Introduction
The principal aim of this exercise was the development of web authoring skills, in collaboration with other group members, to produce a group web page. It was also necessary to research into various aspects from the module up to that point in the course.
Group Aspect
Unfortunately, as pointed out in the section on Group Working, the group aspect was was not wholly successful.
Once the group members were known a consensus was quickly reached as to responsibility for particular aspects. See messages below.

Hi Stuart,
re Tutors message
Due to the fact that there seems to be very little activity taking
place, I think it is probably a good move to scrap the two seperate
groups and have a combined folder for all those in the group that
want to take part in TGA4. To this end I will delete the blue and
red folders and replace them with a new TGA4 folder.
I have done a home page for blue group, I'll rename it now TGA4
here is my URL,
URL no longer active
If you could get back to me ASAP with what bits you would like
to contribute.
Regards,
A Student

My name is Stuart. I am studying T171 to learn more about computers
in general. My hobbies are my family, fellwalking (Foot and Mouth not
withstanding) and avoiding television programmes (except OU broadcasts
off course). Check out my contribution to this page concerning
(Subject to be announced).I had originally planned to do the home
page but I will come up with something else as yours is now there.
Different versions of an event, probably.

To be perfectly honest T171 has had to take a bit of a back seat recently due to other priorities. I won't bore you with the details. I'm not sure what's left in the next activity, if you let me know what's left to do I'll cobble something together. Regards Another Student

Web Authoring
There were only minor problems encountered with producing the group page. One such problem was correct use of frame targeting. This was quickly resolved.
Research
My contribution required research into the story behind MSDOS. This required the use of the "clear thinking" as taught during T171. It was quite obvious from the links found that history is not always the same for everybody. Different people had different views. The results and my page for the group can be viewed here: - Kudos from QDOS. NB The links from this page that no longer operate have been removed.
Conclusion
The exercise demonstrated the value of working in a group. Problems that arise can be shared and solutions found. Researching into the MSDOS story showed the difficulties involved in finding creditable information. This is an area that requires a careful approach.
