Loughrigg Tarn
Loughrigg, the lake under the ridge, or so I'm told. It could just as easily be the ridge over the lake. Who knows? Anyway, this is a pleasant stroll when the weather proves inclement on the tops. Or, when its your turn to take charge of the pushchair. It is most definitely not a fell walk.

The approach to this for me is from Skelwith Bridge up a small road off the main road by the bus stop. Once at the top turn right and then immediately left and through the farm and around the tarn.
There's a camp site at the farm. The views from around the tarn are excellent. Unfortunately you can only walk around one side of the tarn. The return route is via the road. If however, you are not in charge of a pushchair, you can veer off to the right, up to Neaum Crag, and then down through the plethora of log cabins towards Skelwith Bridge.
A pleasant little stroll. You can always have a beer at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel on your return, or a coffee and cake at the slate works by Skelwith Bridge.
