Pike of Blisco

This walk has terrific views. I always say that about all the fells. But its true. I just love it. I don't know what the name means, but who cares when you can look down into Langdale, almost a bird's-eye view. The views on this day were spoilt slightly by the cloud cover. Not to worry!

The approach up to the Pike of Blisco from the south. Looking from the summit of Blisco towards Crinkle Crags. Bow Fell is to the right, swathed in clouds. Looking down into Langdale from the summit of the Pike of Blisco. The cloud cover is preventing the view across to the pikes

One thing to watch out for in this area of the fells are the electric fences. Installed since the foot and mouth outbreak to control and limit sheep movement. An unwelcome side effect is that compasses will give inaccurate readings when under their influence. You have been warned.

This approach was from the Three Shires Stone in Wrynose Pass. On reaching Red Tarn turn right and head in an upwards direction following the path. Eventually you reach the summit with its fine cairn (Not so fine as in Wainwrights time I am led to believe).

The views are exhillarating.
